August Favourites

Hi everyone!

Looks like summer has now come to an end in the UK which is very sad :( Hope everyone has enjoyed it as much as I have, even though I have mostly been working! Here is a quick post of my favourite products throughout August:

- Schwarzkopf Got2b Guardian Angel heat protection spray
- Lush Happy Blooming Luxury bath melt
- Collection 2000 Shimmer & Shade 3 Just Peachy! shimmering powder
- Primark Strawberry Bonbons scented candle
- Lush Bubblegum sugar lip scrub

Schwarzkopf Got2b Guardian Angel

For some time now I've been buying the Tresemme heat defence spray which was a really good size and had a really handy spray pump thing! Recently I've been wanting to try out some new products and move away from what I've always just been used to buying. I went into Boots and noticed that the Schwarzkopf Got2b Guardian Angel was on offer which was a total bonus for me because I love special offers :D haha. I think it was £2.09 when I bought it, I'm not sure how much it usually is but I thought that was a really good buy and it looked like quite a funky bottle! I don't actually have any other Schwarzkopf products apart from the 'Dust it' powder which I hardly every use. Anyway I love the smell of the guardian angel heat protection spray :) The nozzle isn't as good as the Tresemme one but it's not the worst. In terms of it actually doing what it's meant to, who knows? Actually my hair has been feeling softer than it did because I went for about 2 weeks without using any heat defence spray which I did feel really bad about!

Lush Happy Blooming Luxury bath melt

sorry it looks kinda messy, it has been in amongst other lush goodies :)

Oh my god. I absolutely love this product! It smells amazing and it turns the bath water pink! I got this in a gift box from people from work as a leaving present last summer, can you believe it! I wasn't much of a fan of taking baths, I've always preferred a shower but have been taking them quite often more recently to try and make myself feel tired before going to bed as I can never sleep. This has definately made me want to take baths more often :) I managed to break it into 3 parts, I'm assuming that's what the lines are for. It doesn't make the bath water bubbly, it just goes nice and pink :) So heavenly. I will definitely buy this some time. It is £3.75. Actually quite pricey in my opinion, glad I got it in a gift set :) but it's all used up now!

Collection 2000 shimmering powder

not the best photo I admit. the outside is much more pearly white and the flowers are peach pink - the largest one being lighter than the smaller one

This was one of my unplanned - impulse purchases this month. I was in my local Watt Brothers store buying dishwasher tablets cause they are very cheap in there ;) and noticed that they sold make up!! I actually had no idea they did that. I usually just run in and out again because it's always so busy. They had all sorts of make up by Rimmel, Collection 2000, Lancome, YSL, Calvin Klein, even Stila and others! Anyway back onto this product :) I was actually looking for a highlighter style product and thought I'd get this as it was only 99p! Total bargain! I use it to highlight my cheekbones and it looks so nice and fresh :) Definitely recommend it and even popping into your local Watt Brothers for make up! and sweets! haha.

Primark Strawberry Bonbons scented candle

So cute! you can tell I've used them

I should probably mention now that I have recently developed an obsession for candles. Again this is another impulse purchase of mine. I was in the queue in Primark and along the tills were these adorable candles for only £1! There was no way I was not going to buy one right? So i got two :) They smell really sweet but when they are burning there isn't much scent to them but I just light them for the atmosphere and they look really cute on my window sill. They have them in Vanilla flavour too for you vanilla lovers :)

Lush Bubblegum sugar lip scrub

I was watching a review of some products on youtube and the girl was talking about this lip scrub! Sorry I can't remember her name........ I always get dry / dead skin on my lips and have a habit of picking it and I'm so sick of not having nice smooth lips. I actually only bought this this week and it was a freaking £5.00! Don't know what I was thinking but I though oh what the hell I'll give it ago and it smelled amazing so I couldn't resist. Did I say it smells amazing? It actually TASTES amazing too! I cannot stop licking my lips while I'm using the stuff haha. It takes quite a while to use so it's not exactly the kind of thing you can just whip out your handbag and use while your're out and about. It's a little messy too so I definitely recommend doing it maybe first thing in the morning then again at night. Mmm so tasty think i might use some now :)

That's all for this month! Thank you for reading and speak to you soon! xx

Francois Demachy has ruined Miss Dior Cherie

click on this image for the site i stole it from

I've been buying Miss Dior Cherie perfume since 2007 so I consider myself to be a very loyal Dior customer. I started off with the eau de toilette version but have been buying the eau de parfum 1 to 2 times a year since which smells exactly the same only stronger. It smells so cute, like strawberries and popcorn :)

Around christmas 2010 I was buying another bottle of the eau de parfum and to my horror it just didn't have the same smell! I eventually got used to the smell and it still had the little strawberry kick to it. I think the ones in stores are affected by the bright lights. I noticed that the number on the back of the box in the ingredients section was different to the one I had bought the year before. The 2010 one is N° 04460/A and the previous box was N° 01670. I came to the conclusion that they had reformulated it slightly without saying anything which was quite disappointing..... It doesn't end there though.

In spring 2011 the marketing campaign for the reformulated Miss Dior Cherie came out featuring Natalie Portman who looks exquisite and I think goes perfectly with the brand :)

Now it's summer and almost my birthday and I'm running out of my Miss Dior Cherie eau de parfum so I thought it was time to get another one :) I went into Boots where I bought it previously and sprayed it just because I couldn't resist it HOWEVER this is where I noticed that the perfume smelled even more different this time!! The strawberry smell had gone completely and it smelled of OLD WOMAN perfume! It just honked. I decided to spray the eau de toilette to see if it smelled any better and it just smelled WORSE! it was nothing like the eau de parfum and nothing like the previous one either. I was seriously beginning to wonder if it was just me! I asked the woman at the Dior counter if it had been changed yet again because the one I bought in 2010 smelled different and she said the one I bought in 2010 was infact the old one (which to be honest I think was changed slightly!) they didn't actually get the new one in until April 2011. She also mentioned that the eau de toilette is not meant to be a lighter version of the eau de parfum but a different perfume all together!

WHY DIOR HAS CHOSEN TO DO THIS IS BEYOND ME!
Seriously. What were they thinking when they allowed Francois Demachy to get his dirty paws on Miss Dior Cherie! He has completely taken away the whole point of it, it was unique, so girly yet luxurious and now it just smells like any other heavy musky perfume. It smells gross. No wonder I've been reading reviews where people are saying "don't know what all the fuss is about, this smells like it could kill small children or animals!", "i almost passed out after smelling this". All the people who have been raving about it and saying how amazing it smells have bought the previous one and are still using it so have no idea how disgusting the new one smells!

I went round the shops today in an attempt to find a new signature scent.... I had a conversation with the girl at the Dior counter in House of Fraser and she didn't understand why they decided to change it and said that lots of people have been complaining about it. No bloody wonder. Why couldn't they just have launched a completely different perfume - 'Miss Dior Cherie all grown up and stinking of old woman'. Sounds perfect.

ANYWAY! Another girl from Dior came over and she told me that they still had a box of the previous version behind the counter!! I actually couldn't believe it, everywhere else I'd been only had the new one. She showed me the box and it had the same number on the back (N°04460) (which is different to the new box)!! The little CD sticker on the packaging was white whereas the new one is pink! I was so delighted I bought it there and then! They still charged me the same price £60.50 for 50ml which I guess was ok since I'm not likely to get it ever again........ They also gave me a couple of testers for the new version but that's definitely not going to make me buy it once I've finished the other one.

So here's what I got  :) All beautifully wrapped..

White logo as opposed to pink on the new one.

Some of my Miss Dior Cherie bottles collection which I use for decoration :D

I'd just like to mention that this post isn't meant to sound like a personal attack on Francois Demachy! Yes I think he made a mistake in changing the fragrance but I hadn't even heard of him until i read about the new Miss Dior Cherie launch.... you probably think I live under a rock :)

Here's what the old version by Christine Nagel first launched in (2005) smells like:
Top: pineapple, cherry, strawberry, mandarin
Heart: popcorn, caramel, jasmine, rose, violet
Base: patchouli, musk, amber

and the new much disliked 2011 version by Francois Demachy:
Top: sparkling citruses (mandarin orange);
Heart: Rose Damascena, intense jasmine;
Base notes: Patchouli, Vetyver, Sandalwood, Moss, Amber.

Thank you for reading :) let me know what your thoughts are! Even those of you who do actually like the new version ;)

July Favourites

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd do a quick post on my July favourites while I wait on my Tesco delivery :)

So my absolute favourites throughout July have been:
- Soap & Glory Hand Food
- Dove Beauty Finish Deodorant
- Tigi Bed Head Superstar volumising shampoo
- Nougat Intensive Lip Treatment

Soap & Glory Hand Food

This is the first Soap & Glory product I have bought so I was really please when I first used it as it smells so nice! It's really fresh smelling and goes really well with my perfume which is good because I don't like to smell of too many different products!

It's suppose to have macedonia oil and marshmallow in it but it smells way to fresh and citrus like to me, I would have expected marshmallow to be quite sickly and almost vanilla like but maybe that's just me. I did however notice on the boots website that there is another Hand Food cream (exact same looking) but is a different flavour so maybe they have just put it in the wrong tube! I wouldn't have bought it before smelling it anyway so was pleasantly suprised when I had a sniff in the shop!

Dove Beauty Finish Deodorant

I'm not usually a big deodorant fan as all deodorants I've tried just smell like deodorant...if you know what I mean. But this smells amazing :) I'm so happy I bought it! It smells really sweet but really powdery and fresh too, I can't really describe it.... I also tend to avoid spray deodorants because I hate breathing in the fumes after spraying but I don't mind too much with this one. I also don't really feel the need to wear perfume with this because it just smells so nice :)

Tigi Bed Head Superstar Volumising Shampoo

This is one of my first Tigi products. I had been reading reviews online about Tigi products and thought I'd give this one a go as my hair is very flat and fine. I also loved the fact that it was PINK and came in a really easy to use pump bottle. Also the bottle is huge which is good as it should last me a while :)

I got lucky buying this as I saw it in Tkmaxx for only £10! I saw it in other stores like Trade Secret and it was over £20! So bit of a bargain there me thinks. In terms of volume I think it pretty much does the same as other volumising shampoos I've tried like John Freida Luxurious Volume and Tresemme. Please don't kill me for saying that :D Maybe it would make a difference if I bought the conditioner as well because the one I'm currently using is a damage repair one by L'Oreal which isn't actually mine but I'm using it anyway :D so maybe it's weighing my hair down. The Superstar conditioner is definately on my to buy soon list so I'll let you know if I see a difference.

It doesn't actually say what it's meant to smell of but to me it smells like strawberries and sweets, slightly sickly so if you don't like sickly sweet - avoid.

Nougat Intensive Lip Treatment

I've actually had this for quite some time now - hence the slightly grubby box - it makes my lips feel silky smooth :) It says on the back to apply it at night time which I do but I also where it during the day. It's sweet rose flavour and doesn't feel sticky and annoying which I hate about some lip treatments.

I've just noticed all my favourites seem to be pink haha.

Thanks for reading! I will post about my August favourites nearer the end of the month!
